A ROSINT project

A page can vanish.
Its witnesses remain.

A third-party witness archiver. Give it a URL and it seeks independent, publicly verifiable snapshots from archives it does not control.

In development The witnesses ↓

A local copy proves nothing. You could have made it yourself.

Three witnesses.

Different failure modes

web.archive.org

The library

A US nonprofit, but it honours takedown requests — so pages can disappear from it.

archive.today

The holdout

Anonymously operated and removes nothing, but rests on a single operator.

ghostarchive.org

The third vote

An independent record, so no single archive is the only one asked.

They were chosen because their weaknesses are not the same one. One can fold, be compelled or simply go away. Three are harder to remove at once.

Submit is not proof.

The read side is the truth

A snapshot counts only when the archive's own public record shows it. Never because a submission was accepted.

Submissions are best effort

Nothing waits on a submit response or trusts its body. An accepted submission is not evidence of anything.

Pending is a real answer

A witness that has not confirmed is reported as pending, with the reason — not dressed up as success.

One job

Websites only. No local capture, and no knowledge of any wider investigation.

What it reports.

Per witness

  • ConfirmedThe public record shows a snapshot.
  • PendingSubmitted or rate limited, not public yet — check again later.
  • NoneThe archive reports nothing stored for that URL.
  • ErrorThe witness could not be reached or answered badly.

Status

In development. A single command-line binary written in Rust, part of an investigation toolkit alongside Red String. There is no public release, download or hosted version.

Archiving depends on services ALIBI does not operate. It cannot guarantee that a page will be archived, that a snapshot will persist, or that an archive stays reachable.
